I entered into massage school as never having been massaged before. I was interested in a background of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biology etc. before entering into physical therapy or chiropractic school. I knew I wanted to be in some field of medicine, and when I discovered I was a fainter, my career path of being a heart surgeon ended to become something non-open body related in the realm of healthcare.
Once I completed my massage therapy education, I didn't need to look any further. It provided me with all the completeness I needed to fulfill my healthcare quest and further, with explanations of the mind, body, spirit interconnectedness. As a balanced form of healthcare, I enjoy learning the many facets massage therapy and bodywork has to offer. I have been a professional massage therapist for more than 20 years making me proficient in therapeutic and relaxation techniques. I have spent the last several years educating on emotional health and the specific challenges associated with PTSD and trauma, the acute and chronic effects on the body and how the body and mind relate to each other. Currently I work alongside mental health professionals to bring the best possible care to trauma survivors.
I hold the highest credentialing a massage therapist can possess being certified through the Board Certification of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB). I am WI state licensed and an AMTA professional member. I graduated from the Balanced Touch Institute Inc. in 2001, and I am dedicated to ongoing research, education and learning new skills to bring the most knowledge in aiding my clients' goals and to continue to serve my clients the best I am able to. I have studied in Hawaii and taken many continuing education courses in varied modalities for muscular conditions giving me a wide range of techniques to choose from. I have trained in extended education specifically for the complicated healing process of trauma and PTSD which offer techniques that may encourage healing physical pain from emotional wounds when emotional wounds are released from the physical body.
I work with many walks of life to assist them in their search for healthcare. This includes blue collar workers as well as the vacationing family looking to relax, care givers, emergency personnel, athletes preparing for the big event and recovery after, specific injuries, surgical recovery and professional burnout. I also work with anyone experiencing trauma or PTSD including military and their families, victims of domestic violence, as well as the professionals who care for them.
I possess the compassion, understanding and patience to assist with healing the physical impact of inner wounds as well as many other diverse muscular concerns. I also possess a skill set to work with traumas, ailments and injuries that affect the quality of daily life. It is important to me that I offer a safe space for healing to take place wherever you are in your experience of self-awareness and self- care. I provide a therapeutic environment for not only physical comfort, but also emotional safety. I am humbled and grateful that you chose Lagom Bodywork & Inner Wellness, LLC. as your continued support for the essential healthcare that you are worthy of.
